Computers for the Blind Announces New Executive Director

Executive director David Jeppson will be retiring and transitioning to the board of directors of CFTB effective .

CFTB is pleased to be welcoming Christy Householter as the new executive director! Christy and David have much in common. Both have spent their entire careers working in the field of blindness and both are Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialists (COMS).

In addition to her COMS, Christy is also a certified teacher of the visually impaired, (TVI). She was employed by Region 10 Education Service Center in Richardson, TX from until her retirement earlier this year. She worked there as an COMS/TVI, Lead Consultant, and Program Coordinator for Direct Student Services. If you are from Texas you know about the state-wide Sports Extravaganza that she played a major lead role in for many years.

Her professional affiliations include:

  • Member of Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER)
  • Member of United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA)
  • Founding organizer of Texas Association of Blind Athletes (TABA)
  • Founding President of Richardson Midday Lions Club District 2-X-1, 2018 district Lion of the Year, Zone Chair, and re-elected President of Richardson Midday Lions Club!
  • Member of USA Triathlon

CFTB feels honored that she has chosen to make us part of her “Triathlon” as she continues to serve the blindness community. With her leadership, CFTB will undoubtedly serve another 12,000 computers to person who are blind and visually impaired.

In other CFTB news, thanks to all of you who got the word out about our special September only discount. It has been a tremendous success and has enabled us to reach more consumers than ever before. There are a few days left in the sale so please continue to spread the word.

We still have more grant money available for veterans & active military/spouses, parents of blind & visually impaired children, and persons who are on SSI/SSDI and for those wanting to partner with us for summer computer camps.
